The Height We Can Reach in Our Life
□□A scientist once performed an experiment as follows: after having put a large number of fleas into a jar, he covered it with a piece of transparent glass. In the beginning, the fleas tried to jump out of that jar, so they jumped as high as they could. But they were always hit back by the glass cover despite of their persistent efforts, After a period of time, even when the glass cover was removed, the fleas could jump no higher than the bottle. Unfortunately, the former champions of high jump were limited/confined to a height fixated by themselves in the end.
□□You may laugh at the fleas for their foolishness. But let’s take a second consideration, “Did we once behave as the fleas”? When we have failed to do something or have got a bump on the nose many times at a certain height, we tend to doubt our own abilities to get over the height and decide that we can make no more breakthroughs. Just like the fleas, what we lack is not the ability to jump out of the bottle but the confidence and courage to do so.
□□The height we can reach in our life is usually what we set for ourselves in our minds.
